Project Spotlight: katie-marsh.com

I’m very excited to share with you one of my most recent projects - a one-page website for bestselling author Katie Marsh! I don’t often get to design one-page websites so I really enjoy it when I do - it gives me the chance to trim things right back and create something simple but striking. Less is more!

The Brief

Katie Marsh is the author of five life-affirming love stories, including the bestseller My Everything. Katie already had a website but it was quite tired, and, having signed a new three-book deal, she was keen to launch a website to support her upcoming releases.

She didn’t want a website she had to update regularly, so we went for a one-page design. Katie wanted something simple and easy to navigate, that was primarily focused on pushing her readers out to social media, where she’s quite active. She wanted her new site to feel clean and uplifting, friendly and clear.

In her own words: ‘I want readers to feel like they’ve met me in a queue, and we’ve got chatting and we might go for a coffee soon because we clicked that well’.

She was also keen to add a little bit of quirkiness to the design - and is a big fan of turquoise!

I picked simple, contemporary fonts to sit alongside a very clean minimal design, with different backgrounds for different sections of the site, and a few fun touches here and there to add interest without too much fuss.

The Post-launch Q&A

Before working with Charlotte Duckworth Studio, when it came to my website I felt …

Utterly unenthusiastic, bored, irritated.

What fears or hesitations did you have before deciding to work with Charlotte Duckworth Studio?

I wondered if investing in a website was worth the price, even though I felt the price charged was more than fair.

How do you expect your new site to change things for you?

I think it gives my author profile a boost, in a clean, fresh easy to use format, at a time when I have a new book coming out.

For someone on the fence about working with Charlotte Duckworth Studio, what would you say to them?
