Squarespace: how to fix your Instagram feed
This is something that I’ve had a few questions about from former clients: how to fix your Instagram feed when it stops updating on your Squarespace website.
If you have an Instagram feed displaying on your Squarespace website, you may notice from time to time that it gets ‘stuck’ and doesn’t pull through the latest images.
This happens when Instagram changes its API (the connection which allows other apps to pull data from Instagram).
They have recently (December 2024) just changed this again, so every site owner with an Instagram feed will have to go through these steps to fix it!
Thankfully it’s very quick and easy to sort this issue!
I’ve recorded a video to walk you through the process, but if you prefer to follow written instructions, then please scroll down.

Step 1: disconnect and reconnect Instagram
First of all, log into your Squarespace account.
Go to Settings > Third Party tools > Connected Accounts.
Click your Instagram account.
Click Disconnect.
Click Confirm.
Return to the Connected Accounts panel, click Connect.
Select Instagram from the Social Accounts menu, then log in using your Instagram username and password.
Click Save.
Step 2: update your Instagram blocks
Return to the Instagram Block on your website.
In the Account tab of the block editor, click the Connected Account drop-down menu to re-select your Instagram account.
Click Apply to save your change, then refresh the page.
Check to see if your Instagram feed is now updated.
Didn’t work?
If the issue still isn't resolved, you can remove the Instagram block completely and add a new one.
In the Home Menu, click Website > Pages, then click the page with the Instagram Block.
Hover over the page and click Edit.
Hover over the Instagram Block and click the trash can icon.
Click the insert point again and search for Instagram.
Add a new Instagram block.
Select your Instagram account and click Save.
Refresh the page.
And that’s it - super easy!
It’s worth keeping an eye on your Instagram feed as this issue may crop whenever Instagram does an update.
