I’m sorry to have to blog about this one but thought it was worth a post as I get quite a bit of traffic on here - and the more people who are aware the better! I’ve had several clients contact me recently to say they have received an ominous message through the contact form on their website.

I’ve pasted a version of the message below, but it essentially says that you must ‘take action immediately’ by clicking on a link in the email, otherwise your domain will expire and you will lose access to your website.

This is a phishing attempt and should be ignored.

Your version may vary a little but the context will be something like - 'you need to take urgent action to avoid losing your domain name, please click here'.

Don't click on any of the links and just delete.

Squarespace will never contact you about your account through the contact form on your website.

If you’re a client of mine and are ever worried about any communication regarding your Squarespace site, then please just drop me an email and I can look into it for you.

If you’re not a client, do get in touch with Squarespace directly to verify any messages before taking any action or clicking on any links.

You can also check the status of your domain/payments at any time by logging into the back end of your Squarespace website and clicking Settings > Billing & Account > Billing.

If your domain is not hosted with Squarespace, then contact your domain provider.

We have not received your payment for the renewal of your domain 

We have made several attempts to reach you by phone, to inform you regarding the TERMINATION of your domain 

CLICK HERE FOR SECURE ONLINE PAYMENT: https://registerdomains.ga

IF WE DO NOT RECEIVE YOUR PAYMENT WITHIN 24 HOURS, YOUR DOMAIN yourdomain.com WILL BE TERMINATED

ACT IMMEDIATELY.

The submission notification yourdomain.com will EXPIRE WITHIN 24 HOURS after reception of this email.
